Workshop: Review of the first year research project

The research project: “Planting energy crops on post-mining land” has been implementing for 3 years (2016-2019) in 3 mining areas in Vietnam: Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh and Lam Dong.

On February 15, 2017, The review workshop of the first year of the project implementation was held in Hanoi, with the participations of UfU - Independence Institute on Environmental Issues e.V. - Federal Republic of Germany, representatives of Vinacomin Company, Nui Phao Company, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, Vietnam National University of Agricultural, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology, Land Science Association of Vietnam, individuals are interested in post-mining land rehabilitation.

The research project has been carried out in Nui Phao Mining area in Thai Nguyen. ADC staffs have supported the implementation of this project since March 2016. In the first year, the team chose three kind of trees to grow: Sweet Sorghum, Acacia hybrid and VA06.

In the workshop, Assoc.Prof Tran Van Dien - Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, Director of ADC reported the research results of these plants and identified some suitable and unsuitable plants to grow on the post-mining land. The UfU approciated these results.

Furthermore, Experts participating in the workshop asked questions and shared opinion about the difficulties and weakness of research such as labors, season, climate, etc.

After the workshop, participants have been learned and shared experience in the implementation process in 3  project areas and built the research plan for next year. Especially, experts approciated the results and endeavor of ADC in the project.
