ADC participated in the training course on the Abbreviated Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (A-WEAI)

On 10th August, 2016, at Bac Kan province, ADC collaborated with CARE international in Vietnam and Women's Union of Bac Kan province to organize the training course on “Using the questionnaire and the Abbreviated Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (A-WEAI) in surveying to build baseline report for WEAVE project at Bac Kan province”. The participants in the training course include: Mr. Tran Trung Hieu - Value Chain Development Specialists, Central Institute for Economic Management, Ministry of Planning and Investment; Ms. Dao Ngoc Nga - Value Chain Development Specialists, Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs are advisers; 6 staffs of ADC, 4 staffs of Women's Union of Bac Kan province and staffs of CARE international in Vietnam.
At the training course, with the devoted guidance two advisers, staffs of ADC and Women's Union of Bac Kan province are able to use the tools including: the survey questionnaire and the Abbreviated Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index (A-WEAI) to build baseline survey report for WEAVE project at Thanh Van and Mai Lap communes, Cho Moi district, Bac Kan province. ADC and the other participants in the training course reached the consensus on the plan to use the tools in order to collect sufficient information about the current status of women's rights in making decisions related to their family economy and enhancing the position of women through promoting the development of agricultural value chains. This training course provided ADC the knowledge and understanding about the right and empowerment of women to effectuate the objectives, visions and missions of ADC: “Enhancing capacity, the voice and participation of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, especially for women ethnic minorities”.
Finishing the training course, the two advisers, CARE international in Vietnam and Women's Union of Bac Kan province appreciated the efforts of ADC in discussing, contributing and sharing ideas for gaining the highest efficiency in using the tools in the field. This is a great opportunity for ADC to learn, share experiences and promote the cooperation of the center with partners in the project.
