An Assessment for Organizational Development (OD) for banana planting interest groups in Thanh Van and Mai Lap communes, Cho Moi District, Bac Kan province

From 1st August to 6th August 2016, The Agriculture and Forestry Research & Development Center for mountainous region (ADC) in collaboration with CARE International in Vietnam and Bac Kan Provincial Women's Union conducted an capacity assessment for organizational development (OD) for banana growing interest groups in Khuoi Dac (Mai Lap commune); Na Don and Na Ray (Thanh Van), Cho Moi district, Bac Kan province. Through the guidance of Mrs. Nong Thi Ha Hanh - OD expert of CARE International in Vietnam, the method of GALS / WEMAN was introduced to the enumerators to collect information for assessing the capacity of the groups.

The assessment tools such as "The way of the dream", "The map of the group", "The Portrait of the management team" were applied most effectively to gather information for developing and planning for the project WEAVE. Survey results show that the groups in the assessing area still more limited in Market Linkages Capacity and Leadership Capacity. The highlights of these groups are their solidarity and their willingness to learn and to improve.
