The management and sustainable development of forest based on communities in some areas with high poverty rates in BacKan Province

Location: Van Minh and Lang San communes, Na Ri district, BacKan Province.

Objectives of the project:Sustainably improving the life of poor people who are dependent on forests in the northern mountainous areas through enhancing their access to forest resources, and effects in forest management, natural resource conservation and development of appropriate skills.

Key results : 

  • Developing the structure of forest management based on community
  • Forest management guidelines for Community based on 4 pilot villages.
  • Completing land use plans and land allocation in 4 pilot villages, along with the approval of land use plans of Peope'sConcil of district / province.
  • Forest management plan based on the community for 4 pilot villages were developed and approved by the relevant authorities.
  • Enforcing Forest Management Plan based on communities in 4 pilot villages.
  • Widely disseminating the influence of community-based forest management model about methods for at least 10 other villages in the commune, and other places in the province.
  • Building capacity for communities and local officers to implement community-based forest management and sustainable efficiency.
