Launching and Planning Workshop on “Increasing ethnic minority women’s access to information for improved governance and development - I2I”

On 15/07/2017, a Launching and Planning Workshop of the project “Increasing ethnic minority women’s access to information for improved governance and development - I2I” was held in Dien Bien.

Attending the workshop were delegates from authorities of Cao Bang, Dien Bien and Bac Kan provinces, civil society organizations such as ADC, DECEN, CCD and members of the NorthNet network.

Here, the results of a preliminary study on civil society organizations and NorthNet networking capacity, the status quo of information in ethnic minority communities and the participation of ethnic minority women as well as the attention of the authorities and their commitment to promote the information access in the EM community has been shared.

Participants discussed how to develop a project plan for each specific area, with a vision to increasing access to legal information, policies and development programs that help reduce poverty and improve the lives of ethnic minority people, especially women, contributing to increasing their status and ensuring the sustainable development of ethnic minority areas. At the same time, through the activities of the project, mechanisms and policies have been developed and adapted to ensure access to information rights of ethnic minorities in the spirit of the new Law on access to information issued and take effect in July 2018.
