International Conference "Livelihood Development and Sustainable Environmental Management in the context of Climate Change"

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, ADC had collaborated with the university to jointly organize the international conference “Livelihood development and sustainable environmental management in the context of climate change”.

There are 49 international representatives from different countries such as Germany, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines and more than 100 Vietnam representatives from different departments, agencies, research organizations, and the domestic and international universities participating in the conference.

At the conference, Dr. Ho Ngoc Son gave a speech and shared with national and international representatives about the research results of ADC, about the roles of Indigenous Knowledge use in adapting to climate change (CC) and suggested some scientific and technical solutions in order to have better adaptation to CC. Besides, ADC has shown the role as a leading organization in researching, training in the CC fields and supporting the communities in CC adaptation in the Northern mountainous area.

In addition to the plenary session, the conference consisted of 04 parallel sessions with the topics: (1) The impacts of climate change on ethnic minority communities and human and animal health; (2) Environmental management to cope with climate change; (3) The application of high technology in agriculture and environmental management; (4) Cooperation in training, scientific research with ministries, agencies and localities.

The conference had provided a valuable opportunity for ADC, organizations and researchers to meet, exchange and seek for opportunities to cooperate in the future. A lot of agencies and organizations knew ADC as a non-governmental organization working on climate change.
